Hokkaido Bookworms

Figure Skating Screening Event
11:00 a.m. ¥1000/person

20 April 2024

This event is associated with the current Footprints in the Heart exhibit celebrating the life and art of Julian Togashi. Julian had purchased tickets to attend the Men’s and Pairs Figure Skating competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, Korea, but he passed away in May 2017 leaving that dream unrealized. We, his parents, considered attending in his stead, but were simply not ready emotionally do so. Despite knowing the results, we still have not viewed the competition. Please join us in a screening of the men’s and pairs events featuring the medalists and some of Julian’s favorite skaters. While at the gallery, take the opportunity to view some of Julian’s skating memorabilia on exhibit.

RSVP to reserve your spot. Space is limited to 6 people each day. Screening fee includes light snacks and a drink.

Hokkaido Bookworms is the gallery’s resident English language book club meeting 4 times a year to discuss one book all members have read in advance. Each session lasts approximately two hours with a ¥500 per session fee which includes your choice of a cup of coffee, tea, or two Tenpo Gallery art postcards. Space is limited. Contact us to reserve your space by pressing the RSVP button at left. Next session’s title for discussion is:

Shehan Karunatilaka, The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida
